Have you ever woken up one day and suddenly you stopped short wondering what happened?
You might have asked yourself how you ended up in this life, in this body, that no longer feels like your own. Perhaps you asked yourself where your joy, your vitality, your zest for life went, and how your life is so vastly different than the one you planned for yourself.
Has this ever happened to you, too?
Somewhere in the midst of all the obligations and ‘shoulds’ you convinced yourself you had to follow through with, you drifted away from yourself.
One moment, one choice at a time, you settled for the stress and chaos that became your normal.
Like so many others in this situation, you got sidetracked or distracted by the busyness, overwhelm, and numbness that can happen when you’re living for everyone else, filling their cups first. But the time was never found or created to honor the passions and desires that called to your heart.
Until that fateful day when you woke up to the realization that something had to change.
Maybe you felt the ticking of your life passing you by and the whispers of your soul asking you to pay attention and get down to the business of living the life you were born to live.
Or maybe it was when you were faced with a life situation that demanded your attention and could no longer be avoided. A death or divorce or some other significant life event that shifts the way you view everything in your life.
Or perhaps it was when, for a split second, you realized how truly grown your children were and longed for all the missed memories you said you’d create with them. Then and there you made a silent promise to do what it takes to create a better life for them and yourself.
I have a sign in my office that says, “Your life is your story. Write Well. Edit often.” It’s a reminder than in every moment there is an opportunity.
So many people feel stuck in a life that is unfulfilling and disconnected from who they are and how they want to live. Yet in any moment, you have the power to choose again, to choose something new, something different.
Life is all about learning, adjusting, and growing. You find out what you love and what you don’t. It’s this contrast that helps you clarify more of what you want to create in life.
Where do you feel out of balance?
What do you want to experience more of?
What do you feel inspired to do, and what are the longings of your heart telling you?
Take some time to identify exactly what you want out of life and what your legacy will be.
Regardless of what you’re currently experiencing in life, it is absolutely possible to get yourself realigned with the joy, fulfillment, and excitement for life again.
You can make a shift and you don’t have to do it on your own. Don’t let self-doubt or uncertainty about how to move forward stop you from taking that next step. The life you’re meant to live is waiting for you to claim it.
I’m cheering for you.
