How to find courage when you’re afraid

These last two months, I’ve been in the midst of great hardship and personal transformation.  Today I’m sharing with you the four steps that have helped me to bring to the surface a deep conviction of my own value, importance, and desires, along with a profound sense of inner strength and courage to step into the unknown and reconnect to the life I feel called to live.

Perhaps you’ve felt that longing in your heart for more, as well?

I’m talking about creating a life you’re inspired by… A life where you honor yourself for who you are and  utilize your unique brilliance… one in which you have strong healthy boundaries that strengthen your relationships with yourself and others… and one where you allow yourself the opportunity to become all that you can be so you can live your purpose and create a legacy you are proud of (whatever that means for you).

Yet I know how hard it can be to find the courage to do what you know you need to do when it triggers so many fears.  Fear is simply false evidence appearing real.  It is not real.  A Course in Miracles says, “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists.”  But what is real is that you and your life have great importance and meaning.  Anything that stands between the alignment of the best possible version of who you’re meant to be and the life you’re meant to live must eventually fall away.

Everything we experience in life is meant to teach us something about ourselves and everything we need is already within us.  So you can lean into the understanding that each time you are afraid, it is really an opportunity to experience a greater connection to your true self.  And your truest self is already perfect and has everything you would ever need.

Unfortunately what happens for so many people is that they end up settling for the burnout, discontent, or delaying making a change toward the life they feel calling them inside.  They convince themselves they’ll eventually stop feeling mentally drained or physically exhausted even though it hasn’t happened yet despite their best efforts.  So they hold onto the unhealthy relationships, the career that no longer fills them with joy because the money is good, or the body or spiritual connection that is breaking down and isn’t what they’d like it to be.

You deserve so much more than that.

You deserve the freedom to create the lifestyle that reflects your innate worth, value, and importance.  You deserve to have a deeper spiritual connection that will allow you to have more confidence and certainty about your place in the world and everything you desire.  You also deserve to experience greater fulfillment and deeper meaning in every aspect of your life.

If you know you want more out of life, want stronger healthier relationships, and have more meaning in the things you do, there may be a few things getting in your way:

  • You don’t know where to begin to make a change (or how to do it) so you don’t do anything at all.
  • You’re feeling overwhelmed and confused by all the options that might help but you’re uncertain what your next best step forward should be and get stuck in analysis paralysis.
  • You’re afraid of what will happen if you start making hard choices so you lie to yourself about what’s really going on (we’ve all been there).

These are the steps that will help you find the courage when you’re feeling afraid (or stuck in overwhelm and indecision).  At first blush, these steps may seem overly simplistic but when you go through this process it will help you shift the way you think about yourself, how you feel about what you’re currently experiencing, what you believe is possible (or what’s standing in the way of what you want), and you’ll become excited and determined to live with greater lifestyle freedom, meaning, and impact.

I know they can help you, too, just as they help me.

  1. Take a close look at where you are and how you got there.
  2. Identify what you’d like to experience instead.
  3. Get clear on what needs to shift in your life – your thoughts, beliefs, tolerations, etc.
  4. Create a plan to implement and support those shifts so they are maintained long-term.
  5. Remember you’re in this life to grow and expand into the best version of yourself possible and that means being willing to feel uncomfortable and afraid.  You will always find the courage for the things that are important and non-negotiable to you.

Dive deep into this process and you’ll learn how to get out of you own way and get clear on your next best steps moving forward so you can have less stress, more meaning and passion in life, and feel on track with your life purpose and the life you’re meant to live.

You got this!

Sending you lots of love,
Krysti
