Is your mind telling you lies?

Have you ever noticed the quiet voice in your head that seems to know exactly what to say to hold you back? The one that whispers:

  • “You’re not ready.”
  • “You’ll fail if you try.”
  • “This is just how things are.”

These thoughts often feel like truths, but they’re not. They’re stories—ones we’ve told ourselves so many times that we’ve started to believe them. But here’s the thing: just because a story feels real doesn’t mean it’s true.

Our minds are wired to protect us, often by creating narratives that keep us “safe.” These stories typically originate from:

  • Past experiences: A mistake or failure might lead to a story like “I’m not good enough.”
  • Cultural conditioning: Society’s expectations can plant the idea that “Success looks like this.”
  • Fear of the unknown: When faced with uncertainty, it’s easy to fall back on “I can’t handle this.”

But instead of keeping us safe, these stories often build invisible walls, trapping us in patterns that no longer serve us.

These internal narratives might seem small, but their impact is profound:

  • In your career: You stay in a job that drains you because “I’m not qualified for anything better.”
  • In relationships: You avoid vulnerability because “I’ll just get hurt again.”
  • In personal growth: You delay action because “It’s too late for me to change.”

These stories create self-sabotage. They make us hesitate, avoid risk, and shrink into comfort zones—keeping us stuck in a cycle of frustration and unfulfilled potential.

Yet, you have the power to rewrite every single one of these stories. Here’s how:

1. Identify the Story
The first step is awareness. Pay attention to the thoughts that arise when you’re about to take a risk or make a change. Ask yourself: “What story am I telling myself right now?”

2. Challenge Its Validity
Once you’ve named the story, question it. Discover if it is really true, where this belief comes from, and the evidence you have that contradicts it. For example, if your story is “I’m not good enough,” look for moments in your life where you excelled, succeeded, or overcame challenges.

3. Create a New, Empowering Narrative
Replace the limiting story with one that reflects your growth and potential.

  • Instead of “I’m not ready,” try: “I can learn as I go, and that’s enough.”
  • Instead of “I’m too late,” say: “My timing is perfect for my journey.”
  1. Reinforce the New Story Daily
Repetition rewires the brain. Incorporate affirmations, supportive environments, and small, consistent actions that align with your new narrative. Over time, these stories become your truth.

The stories you choose to believe shape your life. When you shift your narrative, you unlock new opportunities, step into your true power, and experience freedom and fulfillment like never before.

You are not the stories you’ve been told. You are the author of your own life—and it’s time to write a new chapter.

If this resonates, and you feel ready to explore the stories that have been holding you back, I invite you to dive deeper.Your next chapter starts now.
