The moment you realize you’re not who you used to be

There’s a quiet shift that happens long before anyone else can see it.

It’s in the way you pause before saying yes to something you would’ve done without thinking.
It’s how you now take a breath before reacting.
It’s the way your heart aches in new places and feels lighter in others.

And then one day, you catch yourself and realize…

You’re not who you used to be.

This realization can feel disorienting… growth rarely announces itself with a grand entrance. It slips in during the mundane – in the grocery line, the afterthought prayer, the midnight decision to try again tomorrow.

And before you know it, your old patterns feel tighter. Your old stories don’t fit.
The way you used to cope no longer soothes.
The things you chased don’t thrill you the same way.

That version of you… the one who hustled for love, apologized for her dreams, over-gave her time, or ignored the inner whispers because they didn’t “make sense”… she’s fading.

And with that loss, there is also a kind of quiet birth.

You’re entering a space where your values are clearer.
Where your intuition speaks louder.
Where peace matters more than proving.
Where alignment finally means more than achievement.

But here’s the sacred truth no one talks about:
Becoming who you’re meant to be can be lonely.
You might grieve who you once were, even as you love who you’re becoming.
You might feel unsure, even though you know it’s right.

This is the soul’s way of expanding.

You are remembering.
You are returning.
You are arriving.

Not with fanfare, but with presence.

If you’re in this tender in-between, no longer who you were, not quite who you’re becoming… know that you’re not alone.

There is nothing wrong with you for feeling a little wobbly here.
This is sacred ground.
And it deserves to be honored with compassion, not rushed with urgency.

Here’s what you can do in this space:

  • Reflect on the decisions you no longer make. That’s growth.
  • Journal about what your current self knows that your younger self didn’t. That’s wisdom.
  • Light a candle and name your desires out loud. That’s remembering.
  • Ask your soul what it’s craving now. That’s alignment.

And when you need guidance, support, or soulful tools to help you hold that becoming with gentleness, I have two things that might speak to your spirit:
